The Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) is a Canadian law that sets rules for how private sector organizations must collect, use, and disclose personal information when carrying out for-profit, commercial activities.

PIPEDA requires that organizations obtain user consent when they collect personal information and use personal information only for stated purposes unless additional consent is given.
