A web beacon is a small, usually transparent image embedded on a website or email that tracks user behavior. Web beacons are often used in combination with cookies, but unlike cookies, they do not collect personally identifiable information (PII), and you cannot decline their use.
A web beacon is also known as a pixel tag, clear GIF, and a web bug.
